Robert Brown, Carol Janda and Melissa Penic have all be instrumental in strengthening my skills in watercolor since my arrival in Sequim. Tom Lynch workshops in landscapes have increased my boldness and confidence in using more vibrant colors.

But the most influential of all has been local artist George Zien. After attending workshops with Mr Zien and his partner artist Kim Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona, I realized my true passion lies with portrait painting with watercolors.

It is tremendously rewarding to watch a child or adult emerge as I recall and render their likenesses. And the last few years have given me tremendous artistic pleasure; while realizing the previous years of working with pastel, charcoal, pencil and ink were the base upon which this newest experience has grown.
