Artist Statement
Painting is the active response to my world, past and present. The creative process and its result move me; they are an engine of my life. Inspiration comes from visible objects or concepts, animated or lifeless. My creative process begins with the end in mind. However,
my work often takes its own course, producing the unexpected in magical transition. I work with water-based media because of their fluidity of color and texture. In 1962 I came from Japan to the U.S. After studying library science and linguistics, I have worked for major research libraries across the country. Throughout my librarian career, I have learned to appreciate our human heritage, not bound by time or place. My husband, Eckart, and I moved to Sequim, WA in 2004.
My paintings are represented by the Blue Whole Gallery in Sequim, WA. 129 W. Washington Street, Sequim, WA 98382. (360) 681-6033. www.bluewholegallery.com
Selected paintings are also displayed in online gallery, Artists of Washington.
