CALL TO ARTISTS Sequim Arts, located in Sequim, Washington, is seeking entries for its annual juried art exhibit. Work in both 2D and 3D form will be accepted. Cash and merchandise prizes totaling over $1,500. The show will be hosted at the Museum & Arts Center in the Sequim~Dungeness Valley exhibit space and will run from May 1 to May 28.
This year’s jurors will be Marilyn Bergstrom and Kari Bergstrom MacKenzie. Marilyn Bergstrom and her daughter Kari Bergstrom MacKenzie have both had extensive participation in the NW Art Scene. Both women graduated from the University of Washington in Fine Art and are also both members of Women Painters of Washington, Marilyn being a life member. They have participated in numerous shows together including a “mother/daughter” show at Arts West in Seattle. They have also collaborated on four encaustic paintings for ”The White Show”, Bainbridge Arts and Crafts Gallery. Marilyn received a Ford Foundation Grant while in graduate school and continues to work mainly on non-objective paintings and collages on Japanese screens. Kari’s focus is non-objective, working in acrylic and encaustic. Kari is also the Art Docent Coordinator for the North Kitsap School District and works for a greeting card company in New York.
A non-refundable entry fee is required for a maximum of five entries per artist. Digital submissions only via mailed CD or by e-mail. Artists must be at least 18 years of age. The entry deadline is March 7, 2011.
