Artist Statement: The first time I used a plasma cutter and welder in my father’s shop, I knew I had found my niche. Working with stainless steel, copper, brass and aluminum allows for a vast range of grinding and finishing techniques. The incorporation of different textures and colors in my work using heat, patinas, stains and paints is essential to complete each piece. Ceramic ornaments, glass beads, feathers and found objects are included in my new line, “The Mask Collection” which will debut Fall 2007. With an artistic history in ceramic sculptural design, the transition from clay to working in metal is a natural progression for my continuing exploration of the art form.
