Artist Statement:
A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Coffee earned his BFA from Virginia Commonwealth and his masters in metal arts from Montana State University. For the next 25 years, his focus was on jewelry design – winning national and international design competitions.
Pat Miklos grew up in Memphis, TN. She worked mainly with diamond, gold, and platinum for 32 years. After working for traditional upscale jewelry for so many years, both artists are exploring working with silver combined with beach rocks, copper, and other materials and images indigenous to the Olympic Peninsula.
The three themes in their studios this season have been “stix and stones” an investigation into the driftwood found along the pacific coast, “the beach rocks” a celebration of those same beach pebbles that we all pick up and “sails” a study of the fluid shapes and vibrant colors in a sailboat canvas. |
