Artist Statement
Images we see in the Northwest provide continual inspiration for our work - in the waves, driftwood, sailboat canvases, and the beach rocks - a particular love of ours. Always avid beachcombers we know that each individual local beach and river yields it’s own unique type of rocks and natural treasures. We began to look for ways to involve these “gems” into our life as wearable art and garden treasures. At present we are creating unique hand fabricated jewelry pieces “the beach rocks” and other home and garden décor items incorporating these rocks. The newest of these are our “the wind rocks”. These playful mobiles incorporate colorful beach rocks with forged steel and copper elements that reflect the fluid themes of the coastal shore. An added bonus: it is a great excuse to go to the beach.
