Demonstration
For the Sequim Art Studio Tour, I will have a story board of how the cedar bark is collected, explain the various tools and methods I use and an art piece under development for you to glance at the process.
Artist Statement
Marlien Hennen, a cedar bark weaver for nearly a decade, continues to weave many functional and sculptural artworks. The striking and abundant natural beauty of Olympic Peninsula is her source of inspiration giving her numerous ideas, forms, colors, texture etc. She enjoys incorporating a variety of other materials when weaving cedar bark to produce very unique artworks.
