During an interval in her college education, Dana spent over 2 years  in Europe where she studied the art and architecture of Spain, Italy and France. Upon completing her degree, she worked as a consultant on an ostrich farm; assisted at a veterinary hospital; operated a clay studio; then segued into teaching classes at a retirement community. Relocating to the Olympic Peninsula brought her closer to family and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
“The first time I used a plasma cutter and welder, I knew I’d found my niche. I work with stainless steel, copper, brass and aluminum, and the techniques I employ vary according to each piece. I love incorporating different textures and colors in my work using heat, patinas, acid treatments, stains and paints… The life of art originates with a vision. It then evolves as I listen to my client, and a design starts to form into something uniquely personal for them. My greatest joy is installing a completed piece: once it becomes part of someone’s life, the process is complete.”
