From September through June Renee can most often be found teaching second grade at Sequim’s Greywolf Elementary, but during the summer her home studio is a warm, busy place creating and firing glass creations.
Upon completion of her master’s degree that focused on integrating the arts into the curriculum she realized that in order for children to experience the joy of creativity, it would be important to hone her own skills and feel the joy herself. During the summers she has taken drawing, painting and fused glass classes. The delight she found in the color and design of glass inspired her and she purchased a kiln. Each time she opens the lid, it is a joy, like opening a present, to see how her creations evolved. She has opened the Sand and Fire Studio where she creates and shares her love of color, line and design through workshops and classes. Renee’s works are a mix of organic designs from nature and contemporary pieces that appeal to a wide audience
